Lenders

Be sure to review all available options and the relevant information provided, including instructions for the buyer, seller, and escrow. Click the button below for more details on GoodLeap’s transfer process.

  • This is a seller-initiated transfer process. Mosaic, a credit union, is known to be one of the most challenging lenders for solar transfers. Most credit unions have strict credit approval requirements for buyers, and since they are simultaneously applying for a home loan, their debt-to-income (DTI) ratio often prevents approval for the solar loan. While alternative options are available, please note that the process may take the full 30 days to complete. Click the button below for more details and available options.

  • Dividend follows a buyer-initiated transfer process but also has specific requirements for the seller to complete the transfer approval. Since Dividend is solely a lending company, additional transfers for the installer and inverter may be necessary, each with its own separate process. Be sure to review all available options and relevant information, including instructions for the buyer, seller, and escrow. Click the button below for more details on Dividend’s transfer process.

  • Sunlight follows a process similar to Mosaic, as it is also a credit union and seller initiated. Most credit unions have strict credit approval requirements for buyers, and since they are applying for a home loan at the same time, their debt-to-income (DTI) ratio often prevents approval for the solar loan. While alternative options are available, please be aware that the process may take the full 30 days to complete. Click the button below for more details and available options.

  • Sunnova primarily operates as a lender but has also completed a number of installations. Be sure to review the contract to determine whether your system was solely funded by Sunnova or both funded and installed by them. This will determine whether the transfer can be completed entirely through Sunnova or if you need to contact a separate installer as part of the process.

If you need assistance reviewing the contract, we offer contract consultations through SCP to help guide you. Click the link below for more details on Sunnova’s transfer process.

Installers

Inverters

  • SolarEdge requires buyers to complete a form and pay a transfer fee. If the original installer is out of business, a certified solar installer must submit a site transfer for the buyer to monitor their system through the SolarEdge app. Without an installer, monitoring will not be possible. Additional fees apply for the site transfer, separate from the system transfer. For more details, click the link below.

  • Enphase does require an owner transfer, and charges a fee. Additionally, If the original installer is out of business, a certified solar installer must submit a site transfer for the buyer to monitor their system through the Enphase app. Without an installer, monitoring will not be possible. Seller Instructions

  • Most companies require the seller to initiate the transfer. We strongly recommend having your seller authorize you on their account, as this makes the process smoother by allowing you to check the status, receive updates, and communicate more easily. Many transfers also require buyer and escrow information, so be prepared to provide these details to your seller. Click the button below for pre-drafted email instructions you can send to your clients.

Buyer Instructions

  • Although most transfers require the seller to initiate, some require the buyer to start the process. This may involve submitting an email, filling out forms on a website, or even downloading an installer app and creating an account. To help prepare your clients, we have drafted an email instruction template outlining what they need to do.

Additionally, buyers will need to download the installation or inverter app for system tracking and monitoring. Having the seller’s contracts on hand is crucial for identifying the installer and lending company, making the process smoother. We also recommend an inspection by SCP during the due diligence period to ensure the system is functioning properly.
